Benjamin Brought Us More Than Just Apples This Week

Who takes a better selfie?

Me or Dame Kelly Holmes

Insert How I Met Your Mothers “Yep, that’s me. You’re probably wondering how I ended up here” meme

It started with Storm Benjamin… With RED weather warning from the Government, we listened to advice and chose not to take part in outdoor activity. We ended up pushing our Thursday Coffee Run to Friday (which I thought was a bad idea, because people like routine, including me).

OG Wolf Daryl attended a conference on Thursday night in which Dame Kelly was a guest. Whilst comparing stories about medals attained in Sydney… he dropped in “Our run club are running tomorrow morning at 7am… you should come along!” which by surprise, she accepted! With other commitments Friday morning it was a tight squeeze, but Dame Kelly made the effort and was an absolute GEM. Camr along and introduced herself to everyone, took photo’s with everyone whilst also documenting the run on her social media! We felt so honoured and privileged for Dame Kelly to join us, we hope she had the best time! You may spot her in a Wolf Pack hoody in the near future…

We also had our strength classes on Monday and Tuesday evenings, a few sore legs, but nothing a little shake out couldn’t sort. Wednesday evening was where Storm Benjamin started, so we opted for a conditioning session at Levels… so mileage may have been down a little this week, but that’s fine. A lot of us just ran a little more at the weekend!

Netball club lost out narrowly to BDO, 23-19. It was feisty competition where we fell behind early, but after a late surge and great shooting from Em, we nearly clawed it back. 2 games, 1 win, 1 loss. We go again next week!

Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming socials!

We also have a few wolves running in the Spartan’s monthly 5k which is dedicated to “Let’s lift the curfew”. A week promoted by England Athletics and This Girl Can. The events call attention to the unwanted curfew many women feel during the darker months, when safety concerns limit their freedom to get active outdoors.
